Restoring Honour 正義 Promoting Dispute Resolution and Culturally Competent Mediator

Can mediation be used for everything?

An interesting question was raised today at a seminar ... can mediation be used for every type of dispute?
Much is available on-line about where it can be used. Between School Kids - yes; Between a convicted murder and the victims family - yes; mining company and indigenous people - yes; between 2 political parites - shoud happen more often; between two warring nations - yes; Mel Gibson and his ex-girlfriend Oksana Grigorieva - you bet!

So when is it just not possible to set up a mediation?

Medi-Asian - is mediation really an Asian concept?

Concept of Face and Saving it in Asian Culture

I refer to Professor Bee Chen Goh's article in the Bond Law Review

"Remedies in dispute resolution can differ from culture to culture. For instance, with the Chinese who tend to be relational, the idea of tea drinking and feasting can carry cultural significance, and play an important part in the resolution of disputes."

Today I wanted to explore a particular scene from a film that captures what mediators witness that subtle but powerful moment when parties dynamics and the conflict suddenly transforms into solution in the  in the room.
